COLUMN: Visit Claremore is hosting a photo contest | Opinion

There are a lot of things I love about Claremore. We’re home to an excellent network of parks, world-class mountain biking trails, fantastic restaurants, popular community events, and so much more! However, what really sets Claremore apart are the people who call it home.

In 2021 Visit Claremore launched a series of photo contests to highlight what residents love about our community. Over the past year, the organization has run five competitions inviting people on social media to share their favorite Claremore landmark, event, restaurant, museum or experience.

The Summer 2022 Photo Contest, which ran from June 30 to July 31, received over 50 submissions, making it the largest yet! Participants submitted photos using the hashtags #VisitClaremore and #2022PhotoContest. Having the opportunity to review the many places, people and things that people love in our community has given me an even deeper appreciation for our city.

Knowing that a trail run on Lake Claremore, an evening at the rodeo, or an afternoon spent on the new space playground provided the backdrop for an unforgettable memory inspires me. These snapshots encourage our staff to continue working hard to ensure we provide world-class facilities and amenities to the community.

I want to take a moment to personally thank everyone who participated and engaged in our photo contest. There were many amazing submissions that really highlighted what makes our community so unique.

Special congratulations to Summer Photo Contest winner Kelsey Ketcher who captured a breathtaking photo of the Claremore 4th of July fireworks display. His picture is on and the City’s social media channels.

Visit Claremore has future photo contest events in the works, and I encourage you to stay engaged and get involved. Each of these contests offers entrants the chance to win fantastic prizes that promote local businesses, showcase unique Claremore gear, or provide a small blessing to the winner’s family. All competitions are advertised on the City’s social media platforms.

Get involved, stay involved and enjoy the amazing place we call home.

Have a great weekend, Claremore!
